So in the little time I have had between work and being a mum to a five year old, and the alarming reality that is time moving much faster than it really ought to, I started on a little card project. Some time ago, I picked up the Tattered Lace magazine - Issue 8, that comes with the floral panel die - because I really really liked the die (at the time I debated using it to make a bookmark for myself. I've not found time to do that, yet, or to read!). I was thinking on it the other week and decided that I wanted to really pick it apart and use it to make a sort of Bridal card, with the elements of the die being a main feature of the card. When I was at the crafting festival, I was able to pick up some of Tattered Laces fine glue, which really helps when you are working with their very intricate dies.
This card has took me some time to make, because I have also been experiencing the strange phenomenon that is entering the craft room and emerging several hours later, where all you have done is create a large mess (artistic mess though... all my mess is artistic mess!), lost my scissors again, and stuck a couple of bits of paper together, but not yet ready to call it a card. Ah well.
So far too many days later, here is my card...

I found this card rather tricky to make, being someone with rather clumsy hands! My lady is one I have drawn by hand, and I embossed her dress with some glittery embossing powder. I then took my die and compared it with the dress and picked out elements of the die to attach to the dress - if you decide to do something like this then I suggest you move quickly to the gluing process as I did find myself forgetting several times what bit was going where!
I took some Kraft card in a lovely ivory sort of colour (ok I'm not good on the range of words to describe different types of white!) and drew some swirls on them before embossing them with some white embossing powder to create the background. I also used the Tattered Lace Sweetness Border die to die cut one side of the card.
I created a flower out of a freebie that came with Simply Cards and Papercraft - issue 137 and removed more of the Tattered Lace Floral border die to make a swirl going up on to of the attached ribbons. All this was mounted onto a nice pale gold card, some gold glitter added and a statement - from a die from Tattered Lace.
I then reached a problem. The majority of my base card comes from the Range, just plain old A4 White card stock which I adjust the size of it to form the card base... but this one was too big for the A4. It wasn't much longer when I came across a card project on the Trimcraft website, which used an easel design cut out of card... perfect for this, I thought, so I made the easel from more kraft card and hey! Presto! A completed card. Only took several days!!! Phew....
On a quicker card making note, I put together the following card quickly for a colleague who was leaving us!
Rather simple one to make, I really need to make up some different cards so I have one to hand should I need it! Oh well!
Now I have a five year old who is making interesting singing sort of ... noises to go and entertain for a while! I hope you enjoyed looking at my cards!
Many Thanks,
Sara, the Heavy Handed Crafter
